All aboard for a unique adventure into the Secret Valley
NOTICE: For very good reasons, we will not be operating railbike excursions for the balance of 2022. You see – our brand-new Railbikes are designed to meet the needs of many more riders. We were scheduled to debut the brand-new state-of-the-art railbikes. Unfortunately, due to some supply chain problems, we’ve not been able to get the wheels that we need. Hence, we apologize, but we’re going to have to defer railbike excursions until 2023. In an overabundance of caution, we’re not currently scheduling any railbike excursions before 2023.
As soon as these newly engineered bikes are ready to open to the public – we promise you will be the first to know!
For more information, please also visit the Secret Valley Excursions webpage. Bring your friends for a leisurely, pedal-powered adventure into the tall forests of the Secret Valley, where you will cross bridges, chase creeks, and take in all the wonder the picturesque valley has to offer. Keep an open eye out for wildlife, including white-tailed deer, great blue heron, and bald eagles! Explore our rock cuts that were hand-dug by Civil War veterans in the late 1860s. Those rock cuts, which contain magnetic rock, spawned the first iron industry in the United States, provided George Washington with cannonballs, and later brought Thomas Edison to the Secret Valley for an invention that was not as successful as the light bulb.
Railbikes are people-powered rail vehicles. The low coefficient of friction of our 150-year-old steel rails makes the bikes easy to pedal, welcoming persons of all ages. Our bikes seat up to four people, so bring family and friends for a memorable adventure. If your group is smaller than four people, we recommend chartering one of our three-seater bikes that allow a crew member to ride along with you to assist with peddling.
Railbikes are not useable by persons over 250 lbs in weight or under 4'6" in height. You will not be permitted to ride the bike if you exceed the weight limit or are not the minimum height.
